Global Training Summit 2022 The Journey of the Military Child

Closing General Session

Integrating Self Care into our Real Lives with Dr. Ken Ginsburg

Deep engagement leaves us vulnerable as we bear witness to the uncertainties of the human condition. This vulnerability, if not properly managed, can lead us to distance ourselves from our emotions and those we aim to serve, a state called “burnout.” When you are stressed, you care too much, but when you are burned out, you don’t see any hope of improvement. “The worst thing is not to be stressed… it is to be numb.” If we are to make a difference in the lives of those that we serve, we must foster the kind of connections that position us as a positive force in their lives.

Admiral Christopher W. Grady, Vice Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff
Christine Grady, Military Spouse, Advisor and Advocate for Military Families The Grady’s understand that taking care of military families has a direct impact on military readiness. In this Student 2 Student® led session, they discussed how the military can best move forward making the necessary hard choices while addressing the challenges facing military families and capitalizing on inherent military and veteran family strengths.
