Kathleen O’Beirne
Kathleen O’Beirne, an Army daughter and Navy wife, is the most published author in the field of military families.
A graduate of both Smith College (Bachelor of Arts) and Wesleyan University (Masters of Art in Liberal Studies), she taught at the junior high, high school, and college levels and served as a consultant to school systems. Her early work as an advocate for Navy families resulted in her selection as Navy Wife of the Year in 1974. The author of the Navy Family Program’s first handbook, Making a Home in the Navy: Ideas to Grow On, she also wrote Charting Your Life in the Coast Guard. In addition, she has produced seven videos on military family topics and published more than 250 articles. Kathleen chaired the 2003 conference committee and is a frequent contributor to MCEC’s On the Move magazine. She also regularly provides creative seminars at MCEC’s annual conferences.
