Cynthia “Cindy” Simerly
Vice-President, Advancement
Cynthia “Cindy” Simerly is the Vice-President, Advancement for the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) and has been with the organization for seven years. A fund development and marketing professional with 30 years’ experience, Ms. Simerly is also an Active Duty Army spouse with a passion for serving military families and ensuring military-connected students have every opportunity for a quality education. She began her career at General Electric and was appointed Governor’s Fellow for the State of Virginia before embracing the mobile life of a military spouse and serving in numerous management positions with a variety of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
Prior to joining the staff at MCEC, Ms. Simerly served as a Director of Fund Development and Chief Marketing Officer for the Girl Scouts of the USA where she supervised fundraising and marketing efforts supporting a $7m budget.
Cindy is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Richmond with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Marketing, English, and Women’s Studies, and intends to complete work on a Master’s Degree in Organizational Behavior.
