General (Ret) Benjamin Griffin
Past Chairman
General (Ret.) Benjamin Griffin served as Chairman of the Board from 2009 to 2015.
He is a native of Emporia, Virginia and retired on 31 December, 2008, after serving a 38-year career in the United States Military as an Army Officer; the last fourteen as a General Officer.
He had nine command assignments at every level, from Infantry Platoon Leader in the 82nd Airborne Division to Division Commander of the 4TH Infantry Division. His final command assignment as a Four Star General was as the Commanding General of the Army Materiel Command from November 2004 to November 2008. His command tours included two Company level commands– an Airborne Infantry Company, Commander Mechanized Infantry Battalion, Commander Light Infantry Brigade, Commanding General Joint Task Force, Assistant Division Commander Armored Cavalry Division, Commanding General Mechanized Infantry Division and Commanding General Army Materiel Command. He served nine years overseas and served four assignments in the Pentagon: Director of Force Programs–Army G3, Operations Research/Systems Analyst, Operations & Readiness Division–Army G3, and Special Assistant to the Army Chief of Staff. In his last Pentagon assignment he served as a Lieutenant General as the Army G8, responsible for Program Analysis and Evaluation, Force Development and the Center for Army Analysis.
General Griffin has a Bachelor of Science degree from Old Dominion University, an MBA from Mercer University, and an Honorary Doctorate from Old Dominion University. He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Candidate School, Infantry Officer Advanced Course, Command and General Staff College, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. General Griffin also earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He and his wife Noel have lived in central Texas since 2000. They have a small cattle ranch, and he has operated the B Griffin Company, LLC since 2009.
