Strengthening Military Family Resilience: Comprehensive School Mental Health and Family Support in Military-Connected Communities

Join us for a far-reaching finale to the 2025 Global Training Summit, showcasing lessons learned from the last 20 years of research on military-connected children and framing conversations that will pave the way for future research focuses. This symposium will bring together military-connected professionals, educators, and mental health practitioners in a collaborative space to explore exemplary models of comprehensive mental health programs in schools and examine the impacts of deployments on families, alongside the passionate scientists currently leading these efforts. By the end, attendees will leave the Global Training Summit inspired to implement discussed strategies for both school-based and family-centered interventions.

  • Keynote address from the 2025 Military Children’s Dr. Mary M. Keller Award for Distinguished Contributions to Science. This annual award recognizes researchers, clinicians and practitioners for significant contributions to science and the public’s understanding of military-connected youth. Our 2025 recipient joins us to discuss how their research has influenced the field of study and practical applications for military-connected children.
  • Collaborative sessions to discuss specific questions and challenges related to military children and education in a small group setting.
  • Panel discussion session, Comprehensive Mental Health Programs in Schools, exploring models of tiered support and the integration of mental health services in school settings.
  • Workshop session, Deployment-Related Family Dynamics and School Collaboration, reviewing the psychosocial impacts of deployments on students and their families.
  • Breakout sessions, Bridging Family and School-Based Interventions, featuring small group collaboration and discussion to reflect and process
