Coalition Partnerships
Coalition Partnerships refer to our own Pete Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award for recognition of outstanding partnerships, the Secondary Education Transition Study and its Memorandum of Agreement in support of transitioning students, and links to partnering organizations.
The navigation bar on the left of the page has a number of resources that can be utilized, including the following:
- Local Action Plans - check out some web sites of school districts that have partnership and planning efforts between the district and the installation.
- Military Links - web links to the Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, Reserve Association, and Army Reserve Association.
- Military Support - ideas for military installations to implement to help meet the educational needs of military children.
- Handbook for Garrison Commanders and a reference for School Superintendents - developed and published by the MCEC for the U.S. Army Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation, its purpose is to assist Army Garrison Commanders and their staff in engaging their supporting districts, assessing and developing action plans to ensure excellence in schools, and to highlight promising practices between installations and school districts to address the stresses of deployment and the uncertainties related to the Army Transformation.
- Sesame Street - Talk, Listen, Connect - a bilingual outreach effort designed for military families and their young children to share. The resource contains two DVDs, Helping Military Families During Deployment and Deployments, Homecomings, and Changes, and a resource booklet.
- Pete Taylor Partnership of Excellence Award - established in 2004 by the MCEC Board of Directors, the award encourages and promotes the outstanding partnerships that exist between military installations and school districts.

- Secondary Education Transition Study (SETS) -The United States Army Community and Family Support Center (CFSC) contracted with the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) to conduct a study of the impact of high school transitions for the military-connected student. The results of the Secondary Education Transition Study (SETS) are set forth in this report, along with the ancillary publications.
